Frequently Asked Questions

General Information

The Ice Sculpture Festival is a winter event where you can admire stunning sculptures made from blocks of ice and snow. It’s a magical frozen art exhibition filled with surprising and enchanting creations.

The ice sculptures are created by 46 of the very best national and international ice artists in the world, also known as carvers.

The ice sculptures are temporary: the hall in which they are displayed is cooled to –10 degrees to keep them in perfect condition. After the event ends, the sculptures melt. They are made from frozen rainwater, so when the festival is over, the water simply returns to nature.

Don’t miss out — plan your visit before it’s too late!

This year’s theme is Let’s go to the movies: Ice Sculptures from the Silver Screen. The ice sculptures are entirely dedicated to iconic films.

Sail away on the Titanic, disappear into Alice’s Wonderland, escape traps and dangers with Indiana Jones, swim with the sharks from Jaws, or dance through the streets of Pulp Fiction. Are you ready to step onto this icy movie set?

Do you have fun suggestions for next year’s theme? Let us know at info@ijsbeelden.nl.

The ice sculptures are displayed indoors in a cooled hall. Had enough of the cold? In our cozy, heated restaurant you can warm up with hot chocolate, soup, and many other delicious treats!
